★★★★★I’ve been playing for years and I’ve tried most of the common “musicians” earplugs. The consistent problem has been phasey mids and a noticeable roll off in the upper range, which makes it hard to judge transients, stereo width, and gain relationships once the system is pushed. The quartz filter behaves much closer to a broadband attenuation than what I’m used to. The midrange stays intact, especially around the vocal and percussion presence band, and the top end doesn’t collapse the way it normally does. Hi hats, rides, and reverb tails stay audible instead of turning into mush. I could still hear kick definition and low end movement without overcompensating on the mixer. EQ moves translated the way I expected them to, and phrasing stayed clear when blending long transitions. I wore them for the entire set and left them in afterward while the system was still running. Very comfortable the entire time and no feeling like my perception was skewed.
